One of the main goals for Tidbits for Moms is to keep it “real.” I have read many wishy-washy, irrelevant devotionals and I never want mine to be like that. With that being said, there is a risk in honesty. Here is my real:
I have been through an emotional hell for the past two weeks. Anxiety took the best of me, which resulted in a broken cupboard and bruised wrists. Numerous lies, heartless words and accusations have been thrown in my direction. Fear robbed my sleep and tormented my mind.
Sometimes when situations become too dark I cry out to God without words. This happened a couple nights ago. I tossed and turned until 2 a.m. and decided to take a bath and read scripture to quiet my thoughts. God reminded me of Romans 8:26. It says that the Holy Spirit will pray to the Father when we do not know what we should pray. How comforting to know God doesn’t require words from us and He prays on our behalf. Here is a list of scripture that has helped keep me going through recent hard times.
1 John 4:18
Psalms 147:3
James 5:16
Romans 8:26
Romans 8:1
Philippians 4:13
Jeremiah 33:6
If you are experiencing your own dark day, make sure to talk and pray with someone. Eating a bag of chocolate always helps! And, remind yourself, "I can do all things through Christ."
