"You know my sitting down and my rising up.”
Psalm 139:2
My children burned with fevers from 102 – 104.5 for days. One ended up in an ambulance and the other on antibiotics. A febrile seizure and strep throat meant waking every two hours to check temperatures, distribute meds, and watch over my daughters.
Recalled images of Makayla turning blue, convulsing and choking on vomit haunted my mind while I worried over her with cold compresses and prayers. Some nights I balled up on the couch. Other nights, it was the floor. I felt really comfortable when I “slept” on a crib mattress. It reminded me of Vince Vaughan in Fred Claus, with his knees hanging from the top bunk.
Through this chaos I got a glimpse of how God’s heart is for us. Just like my girls, I am God’s daughter. He sees us when we’re sleeping. He knows when we’re awake. He knows what we need and when. God always watches over us like a loving parent. In the bible it says He knows the number of hairs on our heads and collects our tears.
This has been one of my hardest weeks ever, where I cried many tears and stumbled through stress and worry. But, God provided what I needed in the nick of time. I’m happy to announce we are all well in body, soul and mind for Christmas!
Christmas reveals the depth of God’s love for us, His children. He sent Christ into our world so we can live abundantly (John 10:10). Tomorrow, lets remember our loving Heavenly Father that watches over us, and loves us whether we are naughty or nice.
