Lamentations 3:22,23
One Christmas my husband asked if a garlic press was a good stalking stuffer. I was appalled! Why would I want a garlic press as a gift? It’s a housewife work tool! Presents are supposed to be fun. Darrell noticed I minced garlic with a paring knife and figured a garlic press would make my prep time shorter. I have never been excited for new domestic items because I viewed them as work-related upgrades, even if they did make home life easier.
However, today I had a change of heart ever since we signed papers for Whirlpool laundry appliances. Friday can’t come soon enough! I’m ready to say goodbye to the ancient top loader that spits out faded and soapy clothes and its dying sidekick that takes eons to dry.
My new washer dries clothes if I forget to switch over the laundry and magically reduces my six loads to two. The dryer can replace an iron and steamer, while being more energy efficient. White, shiny front loaders on pedestals; how could I be anything but ecstatic?
New means never used, fresh, untouched. Lamentations 3:23 tells us that God’s compassion never fails and His mercy is new every morning. How exciting is that? And, what a relief! Every day God’s love is new and our slates are clean. He continuously gives grace for when we stumble and fall short. Be encouraged today that God’s compassion for you is brand spanking new!
